CNN’s 4th Quarter Primetime Viewership TANKS by 73%
The liberal leaning news outlet marred by controversy is now struggling to maintain its viewership in a post-Trump world.
CNN has long been a safe haven for liberal ideas and opinions, but now it appears viewership numbers are uncontrollably dropping. CNN’s 4th quarter primetime viewership dropped by an astonishing 73% to just 642,000 viewers on average.
TV Newser reported:
The network averaged 492,000 total viewers across the 24-hour day time period (total day) in Q4 ’21, which places it at No. 6 on basic cable. The 492,000 is -18% from what the network averaged in Q3 ’21 and -67% from the Q4 of ’20. CNN also averaged 642,000 total viewers in primetime, placing it at No. 16. The 642,000 average is -22% from Q3 ’21, and -73% from Q4 of ’20, which had been a phenomenal quarter for the network featuring a presidential election campaign.
The raw numbers clearly confirm CNN’s recent struggles:
Q4 TOTAL DAY: TOTAL VIEWERS/25-54 AGE DEMO VIEWERS
Fox News: 1.444 million / 237,000
MSNBC: 672,000 / 77,000
CNN: 492,000 / 103,00
Q4 PRIMETIME: TOTAL VIEWERS/25-54 AGE DEMO VIEWERS
Fox News: 2.366 million / 366,000
MSNBC: 1.163 million / 138,000
CNN: 642,000 / 138,000
The network has also been mired in scandal. One of its left-wing hosts, Don Lemon, was caught giving strategy advice to disgraced actor Jussie Smollett.
Left-wing Chris Cuomo, who regularly bashed Trump supporters and conservatives, was once again caught lying about how he advised his brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo. The CNN host has been fired.
CNN has also been a frequent target of former President Donald Trump.
Media companies, such as CNN, would be wise to learn from this crash in ratings and return to fact-based journalism mixed with straightforward, intelligent commentary on important issues such as taxes, foreign policy and COVID.
