CNN ratings drop 90% in first week of 2022
The struggling media company has faced scandal after scandal and is grappling with a post-Trump era, now their ratings continue to tank.
CNN has built its viewership in the past 4 years on a steady stream of anti-Trump and anti-conservative coverage. But scandal after scandal, including the firing of Chris Cuomo for coordinating with his brother on a public relations response, has left the organization struggling to hold onto viewers.
The New York Post reported:
CNN’s ratings took a nosedive by a massive 90 percent both overall and in the all-important demographic coveted by advertisers in the first week of the new year.
The Jeff Zucker-led cable news network averaged just 548,000 viewers during the week of Jan. 3 — a major drop from the nearly 2.7 million viewers for the same week in 2021, according to Nielsen ratings.
Conservatives on Twitter piled onto CNN for their collapsing ratings.
CNN has also been a frequent target of former President Donald Trump.
Media companies, such as CNN, would be wise to learn from this crash in ratings and return to fact-based journalism.
