WATCH: Climate Czar John Kerry Attempts To Defend Taking Private Jet To Receive Climate Award

Recently appointed Climate Czar John Kerry caught heat for poorly defending himself taking a private jet to receive a climate award in Iceland in 2019, claiming it is “the only choice for somebody like me…”

During the event, an Icelandic reporter asked Kerry if traveling to Iceland with a private jet was the “environmental way to travel?”

"If you offset your carbon -- it's the only choice for somebody like me who is traveling the world to win this battle," Kerry replied.

"I've been involved with this fight for years. I negotiated with President Xi to bring President Xi to the table so we could get Paris. And, I believe, the time it takes me to get somewhere, I can't sail across the ocean. I have to fly, meet with people and get things done," continued Kerry.

Instead of flying commercial, Kerry has decided to fly private which emits 40 times as many carbon emissions as commercial flights.
