Carhartt keeps vaccine mandate despite Supreme Court ruling
Carhartt’s decision to keep their vaccine mandate, despite SCOTUS ruling it unconstitutional, has drawn backlash from conservatives.
The popular outdoor clothing company Carhartt has said it will continue to mandate employees to take a COVID-19 vaccine, despite the Supreme Court ruling that OSHA could not force private employers to require vaccination.
"We put workplace safety at the top of our priority list and the Supreme Court's recent ruling doesn't impact that core value,” CEO Mark Valade said, according to Newsweek.
Conservatives pushed back against the announcement, with some pointing out that liberal Starbucks had dropped its mandate.
Because Carhartt primarily makes heavy duty clothing popular with hunters, construction workers and other outdoor work and hobbies, it’s assumed that most Carhartt consumers lean conservative.
Matt Walsh blasted the company in a video rant for apparently betraying their customer base.
Millions of Americans have freely chosen to get the COVID-19 vaccines, which is their right. But in a free country, we believe citizens should be able to make their own medical decisions, without a corporation or government forcing them to (and the US Constitution agrees).
