California restaurant says it will only serve unvaccinated customers
The patriotic Italian grille defied mask mandates and authoritarian shutdowns.
An Italian restaurant in California has said it will only serve unvaccinated individuals, although they may be making more of a point about COVID insanity than actually enforcing that as a rule.
Basilico’s Pasta e Vino “said that it would be ‘requiring proof’ that customers are not vaccinated, although it's not clear what that would be, and an employee told the Los Angeles Times that staff are not actually checking diners' vaccination statuses,” today.com reported.
The restaurant’s stance is an affront to the big government, top-down control that Governor Gavin Newsom has exercised (if it was a French restaurant, he might visit Pasta e Vino though).
“The bold stance comes amid tightening restrictions related to COVID-19. California announced Monday it will require proof of vaccination for state and health care workers, and the Centers for Disease Control announced Tuesday that fully vaccinated people should begin wearing masks indoors again in places with high transmission rates,” today.com reported.
Meanwhile, Governor Newsom is facing a recall election that could lose him his job. Conservative radio host Larry Elder recently outpolled all other Republican challengers.
Newsom has aggressively limited economic activity in the state, while flouting his own rules.
