Man Who Stabbed His Mother to Death & Released on Parole Charged for Brutal Assault on Asian Woman

A black man who had previously spent time in prison for murdering his mother has now been charged with assaulting an elderly Asian woman.

“Brandon Elliot, 38, was charged with assault as a hate crime, attempted assault as a hate crime, assault and attempted assault at 1.10 a.m. on Wednesday,” Newsweek reported.

Elliot is accused of attacking an elderly Asian woman on Monday.

CBS News reported on the incident Monday, prior to the charges against Elliot:

Police say the attack on the woman occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on Monday on the sidewalk outside an apartment building on West 43rd Street. Surveillance video shows an unidentified man violently kick the woman as she falls to the ground, before he continues to kick her several times.

“The defendant, who stabbed his mother to death in 2002, was released on a lifetime parole for the murder in November 2019, a NYPD spokesperson said, according to NBC New York,” Law and Crime reported.
