Quaker Oats Announces New Name for Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix
According to Quaker Oats, Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup has changed its name to Pearl Milling Company, due to the former name being based on a “racial stereotype.”
Quaker Oats originally bought the Aunt Jemima brand in 1925 and has been attempting to change the brand ever since to avoid being accused of racial stereotypes. The negative outlook eventually caught up to the brand during the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.
The woke mob also came for Uncle Ben’s rice which ended up changing their name as well.
Quaker Oats announced that they are donating over $1 million to groups that empower black women and girls.
