Rep Adam Kinzinger Launching PAC to Challenge Pro-Trump Leadership & Candidates
Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), one of the ten GOP who voted in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump, announced that he would be starting a PAC to challenge GOP candidates and leadership aligned with former President Trump.
Congressman Kinzinger was elected during the height of the Tea Party movement in 2010 in Illinois. Kinzinger was also one of 10 GOP Congress Members who voted to impeach President Trump for the January 6th Capitol Hill riots.
Rep Kinzinger formally announced his intent to start his PAC, the Country First PAC, during his Sunday interview on Meet the Press followed by a 6-minute gimmicky campaign style video.
The ad talks about Kinzinger’s decorated service and continued service in the National Guard, as well as the state of the Republican Party through Kinzinger’s eyes.
Congressman Kinzinger appears to be pushing a Mitt Romney/Lincoln Project type message for his PAC.
Rep Kinzinger made an appeal to viewers stating that, “We don’t embrace conspiracy theories to win anymore… would we lose the Proud Boys? Maybe, I’m fine with that.”
The Hill tweeted out a brief segment of the desperate Congressman’s ad, the tweet is embedded below:
Rep Kinzinger’s Congressional seat is expected to have a competitive primary filled with pro-Trump candidates eager to unseat the incumbent Congressmen in the primaries. Only time will tell if Kinzinger is able to hold on to his seat, or if he will be running his PAC full-time soon.
