At Least 140 Members of US House Plan To Vote Against Counting Electoral Votes
CNN reported Thursday evening that two House Representatives informed them that they expect at least 140 GOP Members of Congress in the House to vote against certifying the electoral votes on January 6th.
Both a member from the House of Representatives and the United States Senate are required to object when Congress counts the electoral votes in order for a debate to then take place.
Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri previously committed to object on Wednesday, making him the first Senator to publicly commit to challenging the certification. Majority Leader McConnell has reportedly encouraged members of the Senate to not join Hawley.
President Trump has been pushing for Congress to not certify the results of the election.
More than a dozen GOP House members have publicly stated that they will vote against counting the electoral votes and several incoming House Members have said they will object to the certification process, including Madison Cawthorne of North Carolina.
