Juneteenth celebrations across the country overshadowed by violence and crime
The newly-minted federal holiday included celebrations that turned deadly in many cases across the country.
The newly-minted federal holiday of “Juneteenth” has been scarred already by violence at city celebrations across the country.
“Oakland police say the deadly weekend shooting at Lake Merritt that killed a man and wounded seven others was not random and is tied to San Francisco gangs,” ABC 7 reported.
“The shooting happened just after 6 p.m., where approximately 10,000 people had gathered for a Juneteenth celebration on the other side of the lake,” the California news station reported, too.
“Juneteenth celebrations in Oakland, California; Aurora, Colorado; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Clover, South Carolina; and Flint, Michigan, were marred by shootings and death,” Breitbart reported.
Even the declaration that “systemic racism” is a public health threat by far-left Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot could not stop killings in the city. Though there is no evidence that white supremacists were killing black people -- most violence in Chicago against black people is committed by other black people.
Violence tends to be against people in the same race (i.e. white on white, black on black).
“There have been at least 54 people shot, five fatally, in shootings across Chicago since Friday night. A woman was also fatally stabbed on Wacker Drive in the Loop,” ABC 7 in Chicago reported.
