Florida Man Arrested After Cops Spot Him, “Swinging Stolen Alligator”

Even by Florida standards, a man swinging a “stolen Alligator” around by its tail at 3:20AM is a rare occurrence.

According to police, 32-year-old William Hodge, was arrested in the early morning of July 15th, 2021 after being spotted trying to fling an alligator atop a building in Dayton Beach.

When Hodges attempt to fling the gator failed, Hodges slammed the animal to the ground and stomped on it.

When cops approached Hodge, he “raised his hands up as if he were giving up and was taken into custody.”

When asked what he was doing, Hodge reportedly replied that he was "teaching it a lesson."

The bizarre charging affidavit is shared below:

The Smoking Gun reported that, “Investigators say Hodge removed the alligator from an enclosure (seen below) at Congo River Golf & Exploration, a miniature golf course that offers patrons the opportunity to feed and hold alligators.”

The alligator was returned to Congo River’s general manager, who valued the gator at $300.

Hodge was charged with animal cruelty, possession and injury of an alligator, unarmed burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. He is being held in jail on $4500 bond.

What do you think of this strange story? Should the man be convicted of his charges? Let us know in the comments!
