Family of fallen Marine suing disgraced actor Alec Baldwin for $25 million
This is another legal problem for the embattled Alec Baldwin, who is currently trying to prevent any punishment or form of consequence after accidentally shooting and killing someone on a film set.
Alec Baldwin’s attorneys are going to remain quite busy in for the foreseeable future.
“The family of a fallen U.S. Marine has filed a lawsuit against Alex Baldwin for defamation after the actor allegedly accused his sister of participating Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021,” Breitbart reported.
Baldwin is accused of knowingly posting false statements about the family of Marine Lance Corporal Rylee J. McCollum, who was killed in the 2021 suicide bombing attack in Kabul, Afghanistan as America was pulling out of the country, the lawsuit says.
In the lawsuit, the family says the actor exposed them to harassment after Baldwin made an Instagram post saying the Marine's sister, Roice McCollum, was an "insurrectionist" for attending former President Donald Trump's rally in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021.
Baldwin, who has a history of anger problems and rash decisions, decided to use his social media following to destroy someone’s reputation, leading to the $25 million defamation lawsuit.
"Protesting is perfectly legal in the country and I’ve already had my sit down with the FBI. Thanks, have a nice day!" Roice told Baldwin, informing him that she did not participate in any violence.
"I don’t think so. Your activities resulted in the unlawful destruction of government property, the death of a law enforcement officer, an assault on the certification of the presidential election," Baldwin replied,” according to Fox News. "I reposted your photo. Good luck."
