BYU-Hawaii to student with disability: Take the COVID vaccine or don’t come to our school
The university is mandating that all students receive the COVID-19 vaccine regardless of medical exemptions, but is not requiring staff to be vaccinated.
Even though Brigham Young University is run by the conservative Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its recent decision to mandate vaccines seems more like something out of an authoritarian dictatorship.
BYU-Hawaii has refused to grant a medical exemption from its COVID-19 vaccine mandate to an incoming freshman named Olivia Sandor, despite warnings from her doctors that a vaccine could paralyze her.
Sandor developed Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2019 as a reaction to a different vaccine and temporarily was partially paralyzed and could not walk.
Even though BYU-Hawaii does not require its older staff to take the vaccine, it wants to force this otherwise healthy girl to take the vaccine despite her medical condition. In doing so, it aligns itself more with Dr. Fauci than medical advice from real medical professionals.
