WATCH: Democrat Representative Ends Opening Prayer for 117th Congress with “Amen and Awomen”

Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) delivered the opening prayer to the 117th Congress on Sunday, but raised some objections at the end when he closed out the prayer by saying “amen and awomen.”

This angered many Representatives who were quick to point out that the word “amen” is not meant to be gendered.

“The prayer to open the 117th Congress ended with 'amen and a-women.' Amen is Latin for 'so be it.' It's not a gendered word. Unfortunately, facts are irrelevant to progressives. Unbelievable,” tweeted Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA).

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich also attacked the stunt at the end of the prayer.

“Amen and awoman. perfect House Democrat prayer ending as House Dems focus on gender security by abolishing virtually every normal gender term like ‘father. Mother ‘-the radical madness has begun-Kevin McCarthy for Speaker!” tweeted Gingrich.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has already begun to attack gender classifications by changing the House rules to only permit non-gendered words.
