REPORT: As Many As 15 GOP Senators Absent for Parts of Thursday Impeachment Hearing

Reports began to surface on social media Thursday about as many as 15 GOP Senators failing to attend large parts of Thursday’s Impeachment Hearing.

CNN reported Thursday that as many as 15 GOP Senators were absent for the Senate Impeachment Hearing.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) were both absent from their desks.

Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) was reportedly in the basement on his phone for parts of Thursday’s hearing.

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) were reading unrelated materials.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) reportedly had a blank map of Asia on his desk and he was apparently filling in the names of the countries.

Senators on both sides of the political spectrum struggled to stay awake including the following officials:

  • Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)

  • Senator Pat Toomey (R-PA)

  • Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL)

  • Senator Tom Carper (D-DE)

Senator Jim Inhofe said that the Impeachment hearings were, “the same as yesterday and the same as the day before” adding that “the more you hear it, the less credibility there is in it.”

Even former Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill said the case was getting, “too repetitive.”

Senators of both parties predict the trial will end by Saturday.
