Rep Eric Swalwell Announces Lawsuit Against President Trump & Allies Over January 6th Events

Failed 2020 Democrat Presidential Candidate and Congressman, Eric Swalwell (D-CA) confirmed on Friday that he would be suing President Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL) for the events that transpired on January 6th at the US Capitol.

Congressman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) filed a lawsuit against President Trump, Mayor Giuliani, the Oath Keepers, and the Proud Boys in February, a similar suit to the one filed by Swalwell.

The Congressman most famous for his alleged relationship with a communist Chinese spy tweeted out his official statement on the lawsuit.

Axios detailed the claims in the lawsuit, stating it was filed in Washington, DC by the KaiserDillon PLLC firm.

  • "As a direct and foreseeable consequence of the Defendants’ false and incendiary allegations of fraud and theft, and in direct response to the Defendants’ express calls for violence at the rally, a violent mob attacked the U.S. Capitol, " the complaint alleges.

  • Swalwell alleges that the defendants, "by force, intimidation, or threat, agreed and conspired with one another to undertake a course of action to prevent" Joe Biden from being certified as the election winner and holding office.

  • Trump and Brooks are being sued in their "personal capacity." The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages and a requirement that the defendants provide written notice seven days in advance of a rally or public event hosted on an election day.

Swalwell’s lawsuit accuses Trump and his allies of conspiring to violate the civil rights of the Congressman.
