Rand Paul: Fauci “lied” and perjured himself over Wuhan lab funding

The Republican Senator recently said that career bureaucrat Anthony Fauci lied in front of Congress when he said that he never gave money to fund “gain of function” research.

Anthony Fauci, the highest-paid federal government employee, could face criminal charges for lying to Congress, Senator Rand Paul said recently.

The Kentucky Senator has repeatedly sparred with Fauci, including recently over whether or not the infectious disease advisor gave taxpayer dollars to the Wuhan Institute of Virology to fund “gain of function” research activities.

That type of research involves altering a virus, for example, to make it more transmissible.

“Absolutely, he lied to the America people. There was gain of function research going on with Dr. Shi Zhengli at the Wuhan Institute,” Paul said recently.

“However, I will repeat again, the NIH and NIAID categorically has not funded gain of function research to be conducted in the Wuhan Institute,” Fauci had said. The NIH website still says that it has never funded gain of function research.

The Senate recently passed, by a unanimous voice vote, an amendment from Paul to ban taxpayer-funding of gain of function research in China.

“Thousands of animals have been looked at” from Wuhan, Paul said on the Senate floor. Yet, none of them had COVID.

Do you think there needs to be criminal charges brought against Fauci? Should he resign and apologize? Share your thoughts below!
