Pete Buttigieg: Rural Americans Should Buy Electric Cars Because They Use Most Gas

The often M.I.A. Transportation Secretary downplayed concerns about sky-high gas prices by urging poor people to buy electrical cars.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg said that poor people and rural Americans should buy an electric car if they are concerned about sky-high gas prices.

“The people who stand to benefit most from owning an EV are often rural residents, who have the longest distances to drive, they often burn the most gas,” Buttigieg said on MSNBC.

Poor people “would gain the most from having that vehicle, but these are the very residents who have not always been connected to electric vehicles that are viewed as kind of a luxury item,” the Transportation Secretary said.

There is a tax credit for $12,500 for electric cars built by unionized factories in Biden’s Build Back Better Act. But that only applies to one car, a Chevy Bolt.

It sells for about $35,000 at a bare minimum.

Do you think Buttigieg should acknowledge that Biden’s economic policies are a failure? Do you think he needs to resign? Let us know below!
