Rep. Matt Gaetz Offers To Resign From His Seat To Represent Trump In Impeachment Trial

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told Fox News on Friday that he would offer to represent President Trump during his second impeachment trial and would give up his House seat if required to do so.

Gaetz said that he was initially offered to represent Trump through Rep. Jim Jordan and former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows but "When ethics advised that sitting House members couldn’t do it, the conversations ceased.”

When Gaetz was asked if he would resign from his seat to represent Trump, he replied “If the law requires it, yes."

It appears that Gaetz will not have to give up his seat as Trump has two lawyers ready to represent him in court.
