Michigan’s Governor Whitmer Violates Her Own Strict COVID-19 Rules
Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer has instituted devastating lockdowns on the state, but once again broke her own rules.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been caught once again violating her own coronavirus lockdown rules. The failed governor has mandated crushing lockdowns on her state, but has repeatedly been caught breaking her own rules.
“On Sunday, a photo was leaked of Whitmer and several of her friends at a dive bar in East Lansing, violating her own coronavirus restrictions,” OutKick.com reported. “Those restrictions were just set in place on May 15, so apparently they don’t apply to her,” Clint Lamb reported.
Her own restrictions prohibit more than six people from sitting together at a restaurant -- yet Whitmer can be seen at a table with at least 12 people.
Whitmer apologized for hanging out at the dive bar in direct violation of her rules.
“Throughout the pandemic, I’ve been committed to following public health protocols,” Whitmer said.
“Yesterday, I went with friends to a local restaurant. As more people arrived, the tables were pushed together. Because we were all vaccinated, we didn’t stop to think about it,” she said, according to Breitbart.
The problem is not that Whitmer gathered with her friends, who are all vaccinated -- it’s certainly safe for fully vaccinated people to gather together. The problem is that she has mandated punishments for people and businesses that violate her rules.
While she did apologize, it’s not the first time she or her family tried or did evade the rules.
Her husband tried to name drop to get around her wife’s own restrictions on boating, early on during the lockdowns.
Whitmer also blasted Florida’s coronavirus reopening rules, but went to visit her own father in Florida. She faces a federal investigation for this trip, since she used an unauthorized plane service to violate her rules.
She traveled to Joe Biden’s inauguration in January, despite that not being a particularly necessary trip for her. She had previously told her residents to avoid unnecessary out of state travel.
Meanwhile, hard-working Americans across her state have struggled as the leftist Democratic governor has put in place numerous restrictions that have crushed the state.
“The share of Michigan small businesses still closed compared to January 2020, just prior to the onset of the pandemic, stands at 39.7 percent, the highest percentage among 45 states examined, according to an online data tracker managed by Harvard University,” Center Square reported in April 2021.
