Ashli Babbitt’s killer revealed, has a history of poor decision-making

Capitol police officer Michael Leroy Byrd shot and killed an unarmed Air Force veteran named Ashli Babbitt on January 6.

Michael Byrd, the Capitol police officer who shot and then killed Ashli Babbitt on January 6, has come forward to conduct interviews.

Byrd’s name was first identified but never confirmed, in early July by Real Clear Investigations.

“There was imminent threat and danger to the members of Congress. I just want the truth to be told,” Byrd explained, according to the Washington Times.

“Mr. Byrd acknowledged an incident in 2019 in which he left a loaded firearm in a restroom inside the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. The firearm did not have a safety mechanism to prevent it from being fired,” Washington Times said.
