University of Florida Suspends Three Conservative Groups At Once

University of Florida’s Turning Point USA, Young Americans for Freedom, and the Network for Enlightened Women received suspensions after they allegedly violated the university's COVID-19 policies.

University of Florida’s Dean Heather White notified the three conservative groups with documents obtained by Campus Reform. White claimed the groups violated the university Covid-19 regulations by not wearing masks at an event held on campus.

UF’s official correspondence sent to the school’s Turning Point USA chapter can be downloaded here.

The University of Florida Dean of Student’s notice stated that the groups would be, “immediately placed on interim suspension from the University of Florida, pending resolution of the allegations.”

Freshman Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) showed his support for the suspended groups and adding that the young conservatives should, “STAND STRONG!”

The groups reportedly hosted a “Conservative Coalition Cookout” where they were informed by the school administration that they would have to wear masks during the event.

Group representatives stated that after the event they, “were alerted by the university that the clubs involved had been placed on indefinite suspension for not abiding by the physical distancing and mask protocol.”

UF spokesman Hessy Fernandez sent the following statement to Campus Reform who broke the story:

“The investigation is still in process, therefore we cannot comment. However, the student organizations were placed on interim suspension...This measure was issued to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the university community.”

Do you think it is appropriate for the University of Florida to suspend conservative student groups for Covid violations? Are they using COVID as a scapegoat to cancel conservative groups? Comment your thoughts below!
